Here's what I did today while I was hiding from the kids working outside in the studio. The first thing is a little altered soft-covered book about Paris. I liked the size and weight of this book, so I added all kinds of blank papers onto the pages, so when I'm ready to jot down a thought or idea, it's right there and (carla speak) "RED TO GO!"  The next two items are little altered canvases that I got at the dollar store (2 for 4 bucks thankyouverymuch). They had little Paris (and no I certainly don't have a thing against paris I swear!) themes painted on them, anyhoo I painted over that and added some collage images from one of my favorite Collage sheet Divas...Miz Teesha Moore I love Teesha's images, but I've said it once and I'll say it again--no matter what I do with them, they still look 'too teesha'...not that that is a bad thing mind you. I like these though and they will look cool over our bar.

The cage looking thing is the companion piece to the caged fairy thing I made the other day. Once again I used one of those cool metal candle holder stand thingies (you all should look for these-dollar general..that's the yellow one-three bucks I think) this time I put a bird in and glued some tacky fake roses into the nest :D hopefully someone will walk into my little curio shoppe and want to take it home with them. Speaking of which...I named my cubby hole, and made a little sign to hang in there. Wanna see? It's nothing fancy, but will look cute amongst all my cast-offs.

Boy these pictures are all boogered up. Sorry folks, I'm still learning my way around here.

That's my big update for the day...I had more stuff to say, but to be honest this is like the third frigging time I've put all these pictues in and I'm pretty much over it for the night.

My flea market booth

20051016_017 20051016_019_1 20051016_020 I was just talking with my friend Theresa and realized that I hadn't posted pics of my new space yet.

Emily and I moved some stuff in Sunday afternoon after church. We each have our own little spot in the flea market. We are so excited. I've got tons more stuff to take over there, but wanted to do it slowly, so I don't get it so full that no one can turn around in there :D

The white dresser thing is an old dresser that I had in Chloe's closet. I had hauled it out to the "burn pile" because it wasn't needed, and then went and dug it back out. The drawers were toast, so I decided to use it to display vintage linens. The backing are old shutters that have fabric inserts...I thought that would be a cool place to pin little artsy bits.

Can't wait to get back over there and make it prettier, we were in a big hurry Sunday, so I didn't get a chance to arrange everything how I really wanted it.

Come see me :D I got cool stuff lol

Art Dollies

Inspired by my friend TRISH I sat down in the studio today and made these. They have a little wire loop at the top so I can hang them on my arted up Christmas tree this year :D I think I will add some little beaded bits at the bottoms of each doll to add some counter weight so they'll hang straight.

Fivedollies I was sick when I watched the weather earlier and got a glimpse of the latest hurricane :(  I'll be so glad when this season is OVER.

Ooohh good news! My friend, the incredible/sweet and wonderful Chrissy Howes has a typepad now. You can visit her HERE

A fairy is born

I got some art time today (yay for me!) and this little fairy was born. She is a dollar store dollie who was covered in tissue and then dry brushed w/ creamy white and yellow ochre acrylics. The 'cage' is a metal candle holder from the dollar store that I flipped upside down and painted white. The words on the top of the cage read "It is a shame to keep a creature so fine in this old cage, he said."

I've got a roast in the oven, and am headed back outside to squeeze in a little more time :D

Self Portrait Tuesday

Pursecontents My friend Denise inspired me this morning w/ her picture of her slippers, so I decided to share the contents of my purse. From right to left...we've got my leopard print wallet, my cellphone, a blue piece of paper showing mine and Emily's booth numbers, six dollars, a pack of trident gum, the altoid tin I keep my camera in, several sets of keys, face powder, bronzing powder & brush, lipgloss, perfume  (sand and sable, one of my faves), underneath those items is the most important thing in my purse--it's my little tally book that Jeff gave me (for oilfield use lol) it's full of my shopping lists, things that I need to do,phone numbers, all the important things a girl needs to remember, nicotine gum :D, mini bottle of hand lotion, some reciepts, my phone charger, a beaded project sheet from michaels, and a peppermint :D

Awesome day

Cole and Buffy left at five am this morning. There were quite a few tears all around as we watched them drive off, but after a bit we all settled down and realized how exciting this move to Florida will be for him. I'll sure miss him though :(

Today was nice and cool and sunny. I spent the day painting several pieces of furniture that I had bought to put in the antique shop robins egg blue--all of the pieces look great, and sooo vintage.

Jeff will be leaving tomorrow evening for San Antonio. He has some school he has to attend for work that will last a week. I'll spend the week getting things together to move into the store.

Tomorrow I'm going back to the trade days...Sunday is the last day and bargains are always to be found as the vendors start packing up :D can't wait.

I'll post pictures of my painted furniture tomorrow
