Happy Halloween

We had an awesome first Halloween in our new house in our new town. We were told to expect LOTS of kids and we were not disappointed. J and Chloe had such a good time, and even made playdates with new friends. We were pretty bizzy handing out the sweet stuff, but I did get a few good shots.

Most of the kids were pretty freaked out by my head in a box. I bought two of these gorgeous glass boxes on clearance @ Sears last summer KNOWING I could find a use for them...I grabbed a styrofoam wighead out of the studio and slapped the ugliest halloween mask we own on him :D

Best personality. This little pirate was too cute. He ran up the walk talking pirate talk and then commenced to flirting with my daughter :D Captain Jack Sparrow ain't got nothin on this little dude!

We had a blast, but we are TOAST...so it's nite nite time at Casa Naron.

Saturday October 28th

I have had a great weekend so far. The weather has been gorgeous since it finally stopped raining...which allowed the kids and me to finish our Halloween decorating--it's looking very cool around here, wish you all could come trick or treating. The kids are so jumpy lately. They've been watching all the Halloween movies on the Disney channel, and once the sun sets they are right on my heels. J won't even go to the kichen without making the dog go with him (and remember the dog smells like a skunk--so you know J is *really* afraid if he keeps mr Joey close)!

I had a great phone chat with my adorable friend Miz Carol yesterday. Our lives have gotten busy, and we don't get to chat like we used to...so it was nice to catch up with her and giggle about silly stuff. Thanks for calling Carol--I have missed you.

In between chores and breaking up spats between the boy and girl child I made these little birhouse ornaments. I scored a bunch of these for .25 back in the summer knowing I could make some cute ornaments for gifts.

Look at this gorgeous collage my friend Joyce sent me! I traded her my little "defendant" collage for this gorgeous one (and a ton of goodies--Joyce spoiled me). I love it, and can't wait to frame and hang it--thank you Miz Prosecutor!!! I'm jumping up and down with excitement from the news you shared today--I'll send good vibes that it all goes well for you.

Oooh what's that smell?

This evening the kids and I were sitting at the diningroom table working on homework. I had a yummy gumbo simmering on the stove, a kiwi/pear candle burning--the house smelled awesome. We heard Joey barking outside and I went to let him in, so the kids could concentrate. He never came, and I didn't see him, but I could hear him under the house barking his head off. Finally, I got him to come inside..went back to work on the homework and all of a sudden a giant whiff of ICK permeated the room. Joey has been sprayed by a skunk! Aye-yi-yi. Does the bathing in tomato juice thing work for dogs?

I spilled Dr Pepper on my keyboard a couple of days ago and fried it...finally got a new one today and I love it!!! The keys are so tight and quiet...too bad my computer is black and it's white though--looks kinda funny. I got me a big ole cracka keyboard.

Sorry I'm so chatty tonight--I have been keyboardless as I said,  the rain has made me satellite-less and I've just missed all of you guys. I was able to check email on the hub's computer, but his settings are all different than mine and everything looked really off colorwise...this kinda freaked me out and now I'm wondering if my blog looks like crap on everyone's screen but mine ???

Making lots of progress today

Doesn't it feel great to get things checked off your giant to-do list? I've got the studio all cleaned up, packages wrapped and ready to send. Be watching your mailboxes (Lelainia, Maija, Joyce, Carol, Karenann, and Miz Marie), and the Den all cleaned up and rearranged.

1 more for today

This was fun and only took maybe 1/2 an hour. I made this...

on watercolor paper...using gesso, acrylic paints, stamps, inks, and papers. Then I cut it up and inserted the pieces into a dollar store frame. Pardon the crummy picture--it looks a lot better in real life. The colors in the first pic (scan) are more accurate than they are in the digi pic.

it's raining--cold and miserable, so the Halloween decorations were put on hold--hopefully we can finish tomorrow.

Christmas Ornaments

I never did get a good picture of these, but here is what I made for tonight's art party. These are just clear glass ornaments with trasparency images rolled up inside--easy peasy...of course mine don't look a fraction as nice as the artist who had hers featured in Somerset Studio earlier this year.

Lazy art filled Sunday

I was in my art room by 7am this morning--and I had so much fun.

This is the first thing I worked on. "Defendant" don't ask...cause I don't have an answer :D 4x4 canvas.

I haven't made any trading cards lately, so I thought I'd just play intuitively. I crack myself up because looking at it now I added a number nine--I live on the corner of 9th street and 9th avenue :D

Saturday October 14th

Phew I'm beat! The kids and I hit the ground running this morning. We're now prepared for cold  ok semi-cold weather. Got the munchkins jeans and long sleeved shirts and myself a lovely lightweight black blazer to wear over all my dresses this fall. I looked and looked for a pair of cool boots, but didn't find anything until this evening when I went online and found these!

You gotta admit--nothing says cool like Harley Davidson :D Now, we need to trade the "family van" in on something cooler so I don't feel stupid wearing  them lol

I feel like it's a little too plain and needs something else, but haven't figured what that "it" is yet. I'll have to hang this one up in my studio and revisit it with fresh eyes. Speaking of fresh...I picked up the new Legacy Magazine today and it's a pretty cool issue. My girl Chrissy  Howes has a fun article in it.
