    The Hallway gallery

I was thinking today that I really needed to paint the walls in the hallway. To gain inspiration for a color I rearranged all the artwork on the walls of my hallway gallery. I thought it would be fun to share some "before" pictures. I need a color that will make the artwork really pop--probably a brighter vanilla white, or maybe something dramatic like chocolate brown? hmmmm

This is what you see if you are walking from the den to my studio. Lots of friends art here (what isn't here is proudly displayed in the studio--I'll share pics when I get it cleaned up). I have art from Patricia Anders, Michael DeMeng, Francie Horton, Jeannine Peregrine, Celine Navarro, John Oldham, Marie Otero, Denise Lombardozzi...a quilted piece by KC Willis, and a lovely art doll made by my sweetheart buddy Miz Katie Kendrick. There is also a small ornate mirror hanging amongst the art as well as a really old black frame piece that I found at the junk store and fell in love with.

On the opposite side of that is where I hang the art I make. It lives here until I sell it or give it away. The doors you can barely see here are to my studio.

Hang a right and you are viewing my family pictures (have lots more photos that need to be framed and hung).

    Blythewall

On the opposite side of the family pics you'll see the beginnings of my Blythe gallery. Thanks Marie, Jeannine and Barbara for sharing pics of your girls with me! I'm going to host a framed Blythe photo swap, so if that interests you stay tuned I'm going to be posting deets soon.

In closing I want to thank dear sweet Miz Deryn for the gorgeous rosary necklace she made for me. Here I am wearing it, please don't laugh at my shiny face or squint wrinkles (young readers... here's a public service announcement--STAY OUT OF THE SUN!)Deryn has better pics of the necklace posted on her blog, along with commentary on the items she used on it.

Well shoot I just noticed that I chopped off the danglie bits of this necklace...go see it at Deryn's blog.

Oh and we have a new member of the family (2 actually, but the second one is a caterpillar named Fido that Chloe brought home from school yesterday) meet Mike--a giant boxer mix.

I'd been noticing him walking around the neighborhood, poor baby. He's either lost or had been dumped off near our house. He seems to be happy here, and he's a sweet guy so we'll keep him (although the cats are NONE too pleased w/ this recent development). We named him Mike after the LSU mascot, Mike the tiger Our Mike has really wild tiger stripes in his fur... just like a real tiger.

The big goober is scared to death of the camera for some reason--so big daddy had to "help" him pose for me. Isn't he pretty?

and look at this little puppy...

Chloe had a puppy face painted on her at the school carnival last weekend.

and just so you don't think I never share pics of the little man...here is my handsome little "J" on his THIRD electric scooter. I swear we could have bought the boy a car for what we've spent on scooters! He's a good boy though and deserves it, helps around the house and gets good grades at school. I just hope this one lasts awhile.

I'll be busy the next couple of days putting things on ebay (zines, art books, rubberstamps etc.) in an attempt to clear out some space and raise enough money to buy this

    That's all for now

Last night I took photos of my latest little creation. I haven't had *ANY* art time to speak of this week, and I'm getting pretty CRANKY!

one more project off of my to-do list

The flowery wallpaper is finally off of boy son's walls. He is so happy--my little contemporary design guy. He chose a wonderful grey/green color for both the walls and the trim. I was hesitant to paint over the lovely vanilla colored trim, but I did it and it looks awesome--so very sophisticated, so very "J". Big daddy took down the gorgeous old vintage light fixture and installed a sleek silver and black ceiling fan w/ lights. We added silver touches here and there (dresser pulls, outlet covers etc.) After searching every store in town for the perfect comforter I finally found one at JC Penneys..it's called Geology and fits into the room perfectly.

You might notice some sparkles on the walls--that was intentional. J wanted the walls to look like granite, so we added a package of granite crystals to the paint. The shine is yummy, but subtle enough for a guy's room. I also got lucky in the rug department of Sears. I found 2 two toned runner rugs that are almost identical to the colors of the walls and trim ON CLEARANCE! Woo hoo! It's funny how this project came together so quickly...I'm sure it's due to his infinite patience when it came to getting rid of the girly look his room had.

I'm glad to be done w/ that room, now it's on to mine and the studio. I actually started cleaning the studio last night (stay tuned for some bargains on books and stuff) I cannot work in that mess--it's too crowded, there is just too much stuff!

Nothing on the art front to share just now, but hopefully after the studio clean-up I will.
