A day in the life of Miz Carla

Please don't let me get sick please don't let me get sick

• I've got kind of an icky feeling in my tummy--I hope it is just sympathy nausea for my friends that have had the flu this week and not the real thing. I cannot get sick now.

I'm sad for my kids. Their only cousins, whom they adore and love to visit with are moving from Shreveport to Chicago next week. They will be here over the weekend for one last bruhaha before they go. I'm hoping we can go see them this fall, cause there are alot of friends in Chicago I'd love to meet (heeelllloooo miz Carol!)

Wasn't last night's American Idol great? Had to laugh when I talked to Sue earlier, because like me...she absolutely FREAKED when his Royal Purpleness PRINCE took the stage!It was also cool to see Kat sing w/Meatloaf and my girl Mary J. sing w/ Elliott. While Prince was singing my 8 year old son said "He looks like a girl", to which my daughter replied "yeah, and he's wearing high heels too"...(ROLLS EYES) they *so* don't get it. For me though, the highlight of the whole circus show was when they brought Clay out while his geeky little fan was still onstage. As my friend Tina pointed out..."I don't think he was supposed to keep singing" heheehehe I don't either...poor darlin. Tina and I also approve of Clay's new KD Lang look. I don't think I would have recognized him if Ryan hadn't introduced him.

Here's a little top 10 *thankful for* on Thursday list.

1. My wits: as I get older I realize that not everybody who has made it to 40 *got wiser*
2. Friends who love the phone as much as I do, and all the giggling we do as we make our long distance carriers bigger and richer.
3. Journey: Nothing can transport you back in time faster than a journey song on the radio.
4. Our new snow cone maker. I love the look on JJ's face as I hand him the snow cone he asked me to make for him.
5. Cold water (that wasn't orange this time thank goodness) that comes out of the well that we use to water things outside. We had so much fun giving the plants a nice big drink, and adding more water to the swimming pool this evening. Needless to say we all had to come in change into dry clothes.
6. The look of love I see in the eyes of my children, dog and cats. I'm doing a good job and it shows :D
7. Fresh ideas: There's nothing better than new art projects to work on.
8. Mail love/art in the mail. My friend Carol sent me a goodie she found on her trip to the Bahamas (thanks sweetie I LOVE it and you for thinking of me!!!!). I also received a huge box of wonder from Miz Sara (I had won one of her art raffles/lucky me) that was chock full of some very cool handmade art, jewelry, scarves, gloves etc. etc. Artists are the BEST people in the world!
9. Dusk: remember going to the drive-in theatre when you were a kid? The show started at dusk. That has always been a magical time for me. You had to come inside before it got dark...which meant when you saw the sun setting  you had to pry yourself away from your friends until the next day. Tonight I just stood outside in the backyard and soaked it up. The golden light, the crickets....the cooler air. It was nice.
10. Laughs: The kind that make you cry and nearly pee your pants. In this politically correct, act your age and behave yourself world we often don't just give into laughter when we're truly amused. It's ok to laugh at the person who just fell down in front of you (provided you ask if they are OK first) :D

I've lost my HEART

Look at this sweet little girl who lives at the FAIRY DOG MOTHER'S house!Bern is calling her Esmerelda and I WANT her so bad!!!!! Look at those EYES! Uh oh my kids just came in here and made me go to Bernie's site so they could meet all the new residents. J would like to order 1/2 dozen kitty cats and Miz Chloe would like whatever we can fit into the van! We NEED a FARM!

Easy like Sunday morning

aahhh it's so quiet in my house--the munchkins haven't been woken up yet-so the chaos of getting dressed and out the door for church hasn't ensued. I'm sitting here in my quiet studio pondering the meaning of life with hot rollers in my hair and fresh polish on my fingers and tootsies.

I made this little card yesterday. I call her the Barefoot Contessa. Not much  time for arting it up lately, and to be honest I'm a little burnt out., and have too many other things that need my attention--like the purging of my art closet! I'll be parting with several books/zines and magazines this week, so if you are in the market for something you might want to keep your eye on the 3LIKEMINDS Ebay store.

I woke up with the hives yesterday and am still pretty itchy today. Thank goodness they aren't anywhere that will "show" although I hope I don't have the whole church house scratching when I get there. I'm also covered in rabbit scratches--which looks really nice with short sleeved shirts :D

On my list of things to day I have NOTHING! Zilch-Zero-Nada---nothing that I don't want to do woo hoo!! Course that means I'll get home from church and start scrubbing floors and baseboards, or something. I think I'll just sit back and let the day take me where it will.

Gaw another day GONE forever

I swear I could really benefit from a time management course. It seems like I just get good and awake before I look at the clock and realize it's 2 am. I didn't get much accomplished, other than moving the living room furniture around. I finished this little collage, but I don't like it. In REAL life it is really really red, I altered the colors a bit in PS elements so no one who saw it here would feel like red hot pokers had been jabbed into their eyeballs.

Cole bought pizza tonight, Cherie came over and we all watched American Idol. I'm not surer who I want to win...I've been pulling for Elliott since the get-go but now I think I'll be happy no matter who wins because I like them all. I can't believe it's almost finale time already.

I haven't been sleeping well and I think I figured out why. I don't have a thing to read! Usually there is a high stack of books sitting on my night stand just waiting to be devoured, but now there is nothing. MUST make self go to the library tomorrow.

I went to Harbor Freight the other day. It was the first time I had been in one of their pysical stores. I found all kinds of bargains. Small files for metal work, a hole punch for tin, a rotary tool (+60 accessories for only 8 dollars), and other small things I needed to play with metal stuff. I came out with a plethora of playthings and only spent around 30 bucks! GO ME!

My studio is a wreck again... as soon as I post this I'm going to clean it up and get it ready for tomorrow. Before I can play I need to sweet and mop all the floors, do some laundry, go to the library, and pay the bills.

This is rambling and boring so I'll hush for now and go get bizzy.

Havin some fun in between chores today

I was inspired by Misty's article in Cloth Paper Scissors Magazine, so I  gave her technique a whirl. I've always done heavily layered backgrounds, but had never built my own little "person" before.. I had way too much fun with this. I think I will call her Daisy, since I'm on such a paper daisy kick at the moment.

Remember those little 4x4 canvases I did? I finally got them on ebay today. I did pretty well on the ACEOs I had up last week, and I'd like to thank my friends that read-me here for supporting me by bidding on my art. You all make me feel BRAVE!!!

I'm off to put my feet up for awhile. It's been go go go all day long.

Inspiration...it's all about a clean studio!

Since I had my big studio clean-up I've been on an art roll. I've been having such a great time, and the messes are much easier to clean up now. I thought it would be fun to challenge the Collage Cat Group to clean up their art spaces, and then to post pics of the results so we can all see. Now, we'll all be ready to ArtPARTy this Saturday.

I've noticed lately that I'm inspired by Color! I took a good look at my beautiful daughter Chloe the other day and noted her pretty pink toenails, orange & pink dress, and the neon green chalk she had in her hand. Those colors inspired the 2nd edition of my blooms and blossoms series ..........>

This morning I was thumbing through a Veranda magazine and ta-da inspiration hit again! I can't wait to get busy in the studio later tonight.

5 Items in my fridge: a pitcher of sweetened tea, sunny D, eggs, deli roastbeef, and provalone cheese.

5 items in my closet: lots of purses, lots of shoes, luggage, clothes (most of which I've outgrown *ahem*), and my ironing board.

5 items in my purse: notebook/pen, wallet, perfume, hairbrush, and lipstick.

5 items in my car: sunglasses, checkbook, mail I picked up yesterday and forgot about, umbrellas (you never know when a spring thunderstorm will hit in Louisiana), and a trashcan to catch all of the kids messy stuff.

It's a beautiful morning

The day before Easter Jeff came home with these cuties. The little white bunny is J's and he named him FLASH, the little buff colored one is Chloe's and she named her PRINCESS. They are just adorable, and so sweet. Big Daddy bought them a really nice cedar bunny condo that they live in...at least once a day we put the bunnies in a "pen" we made for them to play and exercise.

We finally have some porch furniture woo hoo! We found a great set + 2 little wicker chairs at Pier 1. I'm not crazy about the cushions, but that's all they had. Oooh and look at the pretty ferns we got too. I love my porch!

The lawn care man has already come and gone this morning and everything looks so pretty-now I gotta get off my duff and make the inside match. Here is the view of the front porch from the  front gate (lots of work to do on the yard still...but it's getting better.)
