Miz Carla can't catch a break

First there was the dial-up that pretty much sent me into internet exile since we moved in January. Then there was the wireless hook-up that was actually slower than the dial-up...now, finally there is broadband satellite, which so far is *awesome* BUT...my email is all screwed up. It has been messed up for a couple of weeks (unbeknownst to me), until the other day when a friend called in tears asking *WHY* I hadn't been responding to her emails... I DID I DID, but stupid McAffee stopped them--anyhoo it's a big ugly mess and instead of dealing with it and fixing it I said SCREW IT and got an aol account...so please my lovelies if you need me use this ADDRESS I've set the typepad up to receive comments at the new address, so hopefully I won't miss anything here.

Art Experiments

Hey guys!

I put the camera down long enough to play with some joint compound yesterday and came up with these new works (on boards). I had been trying to figure out a way to make the cut ends of the boards less rough, and finally thought of using the joint compound. I love the added texture it gives. The images I used in #1 and #3 are from my lovely friend Melanie Sage's super cool image CD!! Go check her out, she has great stuff---and she's also the daughter of our friend Vickie Enkoff.

Miz Carla would like to thank...

her sweet and wonderful hubby Jeff for her new camera that he bought her today. I *LOVE* it!! I'm still getting the hang of it, but thought I'd share one of the photos (and the story that goes along w/ it) with you all. My camera has an awesome zoom feature. I was standing on our porch and shot the cemetary across the street.

The grave that has the gorgeous stallion statue belongs to a young man who flipped his truck about 4 years ago. Every night between 9 and 11 pm his father visits his grave. It breaks my heart to think about what losing a child must feel like.

I love the way they keep the grave so beautiful and full of little gifts. Note the flowers in the cowboy boots.

We're having fun in Shreveport hanging out with friends and enjoying the shopping in the big city. Jeff was so cute yesterday at the Bass Pro Shop in Bossier City...he had all the things he needed wanted circled in the sales flyer and took that with him so he'd be sure not to miss anything :D Tonight he'll go to the preseason Saints/Cowboys football game...while the girls, kids and I hit the giant Barnes and Noble and Build-a-Bear Workshop. It's hot as hades here and we're about to wilt!!!

This wireless biz is pretty cool even though it's not a whole lot faster that dial-up.

not July was a really crazy month around here, but today I finally got some art time and made these little collages on boards.

sorry for the icky pictures...my computer got fried in a thunderstorm the other day, and I'm on my lappie which isn't connected to my scanner.
